Join the Club!

Any person over the age of 18, interested in the objectives of the NCG&MS and willing to uphold its policies, may become a member upon application and acceptance by the Executive Committee, and payment of dues.
Membership dues are $25.00 for individuals and $30.00 for families. Persons under 18, living at home may be included in a family membership. $5 may be subtracted from the dues if you take the newsletter via email only.
To be eligible for membership, you must attend one of our activities like a meeting, annual show, or other club function. Then, fill out an application and biography form and send it to us or bring it of one of our functions. For an Application For Membership form and Biographical form click on the tabs below:

Membership Benefits
Our club has numerous things to offer our membership. Listed here are just a few of the benefits you get for being a member:

  • We are a member of California Federation of Mineralogical Societies and American Federation of Mineralogical Societies. We benefit from numerous programs through them.
  • Monthly Membership Meetings that cover all aspects of our hobby. Every month we have a program of interest. We have speakers and video programs that are about our hobby. You will meet others that are interested in rocks, fossils, lapidary, faceting, jewelry making, and more. Most important, they are all great people to know.
  • Field Trips are available to various locations to search for rocks, fossils, crystals, minerals and more. We are a member of the Northern California Cooperative Field Trip Association is comprised of numerous clubs. As a member, we can attend an even larger selection of field trips besides our own.
  • You will receive our monthly newsletter, Rock Writings, that is filled with club news, articles about our hobby, listings of shows and field trips, and much more.
  • The club has a large Library with books and videos about our hobby.
  • We have a recently formed youth group, Nevada County Junior Rockhounds. We just joined the Future Rockhounds of America that provides great programs that enable our youth to learn about all aspects of the hobby while being rewarded with achievement badges.
  • We have club unique shirts, hats, patches, and badges with our club logo available to members.
  • Participate in our annual show “Earth’s Treasures“.
