About Our Club

The Nevada County Gem and Mineral Society is a non-profit     organization that has the following objectives:

•  To promote the study of mineralogy, geology, and fossils.

• To encourage the collection of minerals and gems.

• To foster the study and practice of the lapidary arts.

• To provide field trips to mineral localities.

• To promote good fellowship, education and recreation.

                  Community Service

The Nevada County Gem and Mineral Society is an active organization within the community: 

• We are a member of the local Chamber of Commerce.

• Every year we give a sizable donation to the Earth Science Department of Sierra College.  The donation is for promoting earth science through needed equipment and supplies.

• We also have gem and mineral displays throughout the community. 

• Annual magazine subscriptions are given to local libraries to promote our hobby.

• We also donate to the California Federation of Mineralogical Societies' Endowment Fund.
